What is the cheapest way to soundproof a room?
I am looking to soundproof a room to help reduce the noise my dogs make when they bark. I have an upstairs neighbor who complains about the noise sometimes. What products can I use to soundproof the room? I’ve heard acoustic foam, egg cartons, and egg crates as suggestions. Do I need to soundproof just the ceiling or the walls as well? If someone can help me out that would be great!
Sheets of foam or Styrofoam on the walls and ceiling are excellent for soundproofing a room and inexpensive compared to specialty products. Installation could be done with just staples, making your neighbor less angry. Just make sure that that you cover it with a durable layer to protect the wall and your dogs.
